So I just made Sifu some chocolate blackberry brownies. Hopefully they turn out ok since I've almost never baked before. Oh, and by ok I mean I hope they don't kill anyone. I feel all domestic and kind of weird.

People are funny...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090203/ap_on_he_me/med_vaginal_kidney_removal;_ylt=AqOZI9VvWvYrc.THjgIRg1VI2ocA

Also, this morning on the news was a big story about 6" of snow pretty much shutting down London. The funny thing was the way the newscaster sounded like he was pretty much mocking England with an amazingly deadpan voice. He briefly mentioned that although the English were bright enough to create the locomotive they were not bright enough to figure out a way to remove snow from in front of it so it could move. He went on to briefly discuss that although the rest of Europe has discovered the joy of having snowplows for some reason England hasn't figured that one out. On the bright side, having a couple of snow days has apparently forced Londoners to actually speak to each other! Hahahahahaa! It was probably one of the more entertaining stories I've heard in a while probably because it was delivered in such a completely serious way.
So This week has been a week of accomplishment and failure at the same time but mostly accomplishment so I am feeling pretty good about things.

I have learned to load and point a shot gun in a general direction, hopefully I won't have to shoot anyone's head off in my house because it would be a god-awful mess and kind of emotionally traumatic I'm thinking, mostly super messy though. Have you ever had to clean pooled blood? It NEVER comes out, sheesh.

Also a debt resolution plan has been successfully initiated which should put me years ahead of where I thought I'd be last year, I'm super excited about that one!!!! I'm totally on my way to a financial future which will now allow me to do all the smart things I have been dreaming about. Hopefully they really do turn out to be smart.

There has been significant progress in the kitchen rebuild/redesign which is making me feel ass-loads more comfortable and pleased about my home. Now if I could just get that stupid door installed.....

I have been successfully entertaining out-of-town guests at least once a month since September. It's been work but has been a lot of fun, definitely well worth the work.

In-roads have been made with management to put me in a solid position at work to either get a promotion or keep my job. I'd be pretty happy with either honestly.

I got super cool sunglasses for Christmas, Yay!

It seems like all of the things I had been working so hard on all of last year are finally coming together quite nicely. The only thing I'm not so pleased about is maybe my workout schedule (or lack thereof). With all of this other stuff going on I really feel as though the fu has been kind of put on a back burner, like way way back, and I'm kind of uncomfortable about that. I'm thinking with a bit more time management skill though I should be able to address that rather readily.

Things are coming together.

That is all :)

First Snow

Well, I woke up this morning and looked outside to see a thin frosting of snow. My lawn looked like a kind of moldy sugar coated strudel. Since I don't have any strudel it made me feel kind of wistful and disgusted at the same time which oddly enough is exactly how I feel about snow anyway so it all comes back around in a big circle.
Piglet went outside and came back in looking like an ewok that got stuck in a snowstorm. I have the feeling that this winter will be interesting.
Also, I've been having the urge to do post-break-up things such as going out a lot, drinking a lot, smoking a lot, fixing the house, getting new hair cuts, getting new lingerie, and pampering a lot. The strange thing about all of this is that I'm not actually post-break-up. This makes me think that is a life-change reaction instead. Interesting realization. Also kind of sucky because I can't really drink, smoke, or spend lots of money. Lol, bummer.

dood...

So vampire hit-men were finding their way into my house and trying to kill me. I noticed just in time but had to lunge out of bed and fight naked to save myself. It was actually really scary and I woke up knowing I couldn't go right back to sleep because it would just put me in the same bad situation in my dream.

Also,
I walked into work today and sat down with my coffee to start another day of exciting spreadsheets when what did I hear? Two women singing a capella church hymns about Jesus. One was really excited because she finally got something and was explaining to the other how she was going to sing it at church on Sunday. Whoa dood, inappropriate? Um, yeah.

Last night I dreamed that there was a pandemic. I didn't know what it was but I thought it was caused by a biological weapon. Th disease was horrible and made people bleed from their eyes, mouths, and noses before their eyes started to liquify and leak out from between their eyelids. My mother caught it, and actually pretty much most of my family caught it except for me and my mom's boyfriend Bob. I was going to make funeral arrangements but then I realized we were the only two people alive to attend and also pretty much the entire city had caught this and died. I wasn't sure how far the disease had spread but it was very very quiet all around me. No people sounds, no animal sounds, just silence. There was no one for me to really interact with since Bob had left and I woke up crying.
So, last Sunday I dreamed of Darth Vader and his storm troopers.
It all started out normal when I was heading out with my friend Kristen and Jenny to spend Christmas with Kristen's boyfriend. When we got there Kristen went in but I stayed outside to investigate how they got all of their fancy Christmas decorations to stay up on the very steep hill which was their front yard. I settled in and really started investigating.

Shortly after this Jenny came out and had a group of people who wanted to walk to a local bar. I wanted to go with them but couldn't get down off of the hill and kept sliding down the steep slope each time I tried. Finally my scampering hands found a hold in some netting beneath the snow. I finally had an answer, they had placed the netting all over the slope and attached the decor to that. When it snowed it covered up the netting and looked amazing.

Unfortunately, by the time I was done scampering Jenny and her crew were long gone. Instead, in her place, Darth Vader and two of his storm troopers were waiting where she had been moments ago. He was laughing at me and when I looked back at the house I realized it was because another group of storm troopers had gone and kidnapped Kristen. While I watched they hustled her over to the house and were trying to get into an air duct to escape. I went to go save her but Vader and his two sidekick storm troopers attacked! While I fought him off I kept an eye on the Kristen action and saw that the other troopers had removed the grate that was covering the duct but the thing had been sealed by a black sticker/plastic-wrap.

As I struggled with Vader they struggled with the wrap because each time they removed a layer there was another behind it. After about six of these layers they finally got to the actual duct. Sadly the duct was filled to capacity with a high school football team! They were crammed in like bonsai kitties and only had enough room to blink at everyone.

Vader realized then that he wasn't going to get anywhere with Kristen so he started congratulating me on a good fight and kind of laughing the whole thing off as though he tried and failed, but there was always next time. Haha. And I just kind of stood there in wonderment until my alarm went off. Weird.

Whoa, it's a doozy!

<o:smarttagtype name="place" namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"></o:smarttagtype>
I was up north, somewhere in the Upper Peninsula, with a large group of people just vacationing. We had rented some cabins on one of the lakes up there and we were all having a good time until I woke up one afternoon and everyone was gone. I was alone in the cabin and it sounded like it was surrounded by other people.
I went room to room looking for everyone but they were all gone and I slowly started catching snippets of conversation from the people outside. They were the locals and they could see our auras like soft glows around us coming from small but bright aura balls suspended above our heads. They didn’t have these and were convinced it was the Devil’s work so they had been silently coming in and kidnapping us one by one to bring us outside for execution. I was the last one left and they were talking about taking me next.

Having explored the small cabin relatively thoroughly I was able to pick out the room that was closest to the woods and had the least amount of people around it. Very quietly I opened the window and peeked outside to wait for the perfect opportunity for escape. When it came I was ready and while the locals’ heads were turned I quickly leapt from the window and ran toward the woods. Of course it didn’t take very long for anyone to notice I was on the run and they quickly began the chase convinced that I must be executed.

I ran like the hunted through paths in the woods that had been worn down to channels by joggers over a number of years and thought the whole time I needed to get off of this path before I got caught. I was making it too easy for the locals. I ran and ran until the perfect opportunity arose in the form of old blue ropes, slightly frayed but still solid, attached to an enormous tree just beside the path. I quickly clambered up the ropes with the intention of possibly staying in the tree and letting the locals pass me. I realized that they might double back when they lost my trail and that perhaps that wasn’t the best plan so I picked up a rope hanging from another branch on the tree and swung deeper into the woods. At least this way they wouldn’t be able to follow my trail.

I began to run again but by this time dusk was starting to fall and a soft fog from some local lake began to wind its way along the ground completely obscuring my path but I continued to run knowing that certain death was waiting if I stopped. So I ran and ran and ran until suddenly there was no ground beneath me. I had run off of some sort of cliff and could only hope to hit water at the bottom and not a rocky outcropping on the way down.

I hit the water feet-first, holding my nose the whole time, and struggled to get to the surface again.

When I broke through I hit the surface gasping for air and the next thing I realized was that I was on some sort of boat teeming with Native American’s with exotic painted red faces. They were milling about the deck laughing and joking with each other, pretty much ignoring me the whole time. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

When I awoke next I was in a lean-to structure and the commander of the ship I had been on was having a serious discussion with a very old and heavily painted man who appeared to be the chief of the tribe. The chief was chastising the commander for throwing extra corn overboard while the ship was sailing and the commander was responding in a very bored manner that his crew needed entertainment and throwing the yellow corn kernels overboard was providing that entertainment. Besides, it was all extra that hadn’t been traded. No one was going to miss all of that corn. The chief replied very sternly that the commander was going to anger the gods with his foolish wastefulness! He was going to bring the angry vengeance of the gods down on the village and they would all starve in a great famine if he didn’t desist in his entertainment. The commander assured the chief that he would stop but even I could tell that he was lying.

It was at that moment that they both noticed I was awake and began the discussion of what exactly to do with me. The chief, having heard the story of my rescue from the great lake, was convinced that there was a purpose to my falling from the sky to them. The commander was convinced I was an omen of doom and my falling from the sky combined with the cat-like gold glow of my eyes was only confirmation that destruction was coming. After a long and heavy discussion the chief finally conceded that the commander may be right and so I was to be executed for the good of the tribe in a ceremonial way.

By this time I was too traumatized and shocked to even react. Why should I be surprised that I had run from one group intent on killing me to another? So I simply sat woodenly and let my hands be painted in the ceremonial red in preparation for the execution. I was then led, without struggle, outside of the tent and was to be taken to the fire area as fire was the appropriate way to purge the tribe of my evil presence but suddenly the skies seemed to open up over us and cascading sheets of rain immediately soaked everyone through and through. I was amazed but didn’t notice that every one had stopped to look at me. I was completely transfixed by my hands which now looked as though I had dipped them in blood because of the mixture of the rain and paint. I raised them up to look at them and the color began to drip down my forearms looking as though I had been tousling with the entrails of an animals carcass very similar to the way a lion’s muzzle looks covered with the blood and gore of her kill.

The chief immediately decided that the rain was a sign that I should not be killed and was about to decide what to do with me when my phone rang and I woke up.

So I have submarine dreams...

So, taking into consideration how wacky some of my dreams are it has been strongly suggested that it may be a good idea for me to write them down. So last night I dreamed that I was the captain of a submarine salvage crew sometime after WWII but somehow with super futuristic technology. There were multiple subs with crews and each one had a bishop who was kind of like Bishop from Alien but an actual religious figure as well. So my crew and I were puttering around the deep of the ocean when we saw a sub that had gone down (haha). It was having some sort of technical problems and no one was responding to our radio summons. So we decided to salvage the sub and head over to board. Well, it turns out that the only survivor was the bishop but after further investigation we realized it had been the bishop that had killed the rest of the crew because he got caught up in black magic and went bad. He started going after my crew and I was figuring out a way to stop his black magic when the yowling of my cat getting into a fight outside woke me up. Weird. Even weirder though is the dream from Saturday night where I was a fighter jet pilot destined to become queen of the world trying to stop the plague that was being released by a warring country to bring about the apocalypse. Even weirder no?

Also, I have been sort-of thinking about maybe trying to become a roller derby girl. However, I'm still not convinced that I'm brutal/tough enough to do it.

I miss kung fu. But on the other hand this break has given me the opportunity to work 14 hour days at lovely Campbell-Ewald!

Oh the holidays!

So the holiday excitement consisted of but was not limited to:

1. One dead hatchling chick glued to the hood of a car with it's insides conspicuously on the outside
2. One aunt proclaiming that she didn't like Indians (the real ones from India) and if she had to commit genocide they would have to go
3. One mother exclaiming that a parasite similar to the cat parasite should be developed to make the Middle East love us
4. One short conversation on shooting squirrels with bb's to teach them which bird feeder is for them and which one's for the birds
5. One dream about washing the blood off of the backs of skinless babies which are carried around in white plastic bags

Things of course remain interesting.

Ophelia

There is a willow grows ascaunt the brook,
That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream.
Therewith fantastic garlands did she make
Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples,
That liberal shepherds give a grosser name,
But our cold maids do dead men's fingers call them.
There on the pendant boughs her crownet weeds
Clamb'ring to hang, an envious sliver broke,
When down her weedy trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like a while they bore her up;
Which time she chanted snatches of old lauds,
As one incapable of her own distress,
Or like a creature native and indued
Unto that element. but long it could not be
Till that her garments, heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

Today is International Disadvantaged People's Day. I don't care if you lick windows, screw farm animals, take the short bus or occasionally #2 on yourself...

You hang in there sunshine, you're f*ing special.
